A gift from the heart

Five-year-old Emma Dixon recently donated the contents of her piggy bank to in her words, “the poor people in Haiti,” to the Pine Belt Chapter of the American Red Cross. Pictured, from left, are Emma’s brother, Simon; Emma; and Emma’s sister, Evy; with Peggy Owens-Mansfield, chapter executive director. Emma is from Jasper County and, according to her mother, asked to be brought to Red Cross for the donation. “What a wonderful gift to help our neighbors in Haiti,” Owens-Mansfield said. “Emma’s gift is very special and was obviously given from the heart.”
